This issue interrogates the multiple ways and processes through which we inherit collections –and the histories which are attached to them– formed in the colonial and postcolonial period. With an emphasis on sound collections and Pan-African dimensions, it pays particular attention to the relationships, questions and inventions, often personal and intimate, that taking on these legacies engenders.
